Pacers’ Miller Reportedly Will Retire

Indiana Pacer guard Reggie Miller will retire after this season, his sister, Cheryl, reported Thursday night on TNT.

“Over the last couple of weeks there has been a lot of speculation on whether or not this will be Reggie Miller’s last season,” Cheryl Miller said. “Yesterday I spoke to Reggie, and after 18 seasons with the Indiana Pacers, this will definitely be his last season.”

Miller, 39, has been one of the league’s best outside shooters during a career that has included five All-Star appearances, 131 playoff games and a trip to the NBA Finals.

Two weeks ago, Miller angrily shot down another TNT reporter’s story that he was retiring.

Miller holds NBA records for most three-pointers made (2,371) and attempted (5,987) and is the all-time leading scorer in Pacer history.

Sacramento King center Brad Miller was suspended one game by the NBA for throwing a brief tantrum at the end of Tuesday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

Miller threw his headband and wristbands and yelled at the officials after they did not call goaltending on a last-second shot that was blocked by Phoenix’s Amare Stoudemire in the Suns’ 125-123 victory.

Also, King guard Mike Bibby was fined $15,000 for yelling at officials, Cuttino Mobley was fined $15,000 for criticizing the officials, and forward Chris Webber was fined $10,000 for kicking the ball into the stands.

Toronto Raptor forward Eric Williams demanded to be traded to a team that will play him. ... New Jersey Net forward Brian Scalabrine had surgery on his left knee. No timetable was given for his return.... The Pacers donated $2.4 million to 11 local charities, money that comes mostly from fines levied against five players for their roles in the Nov. 19 brawl with Detroit Piston fans.
