NHL Players Vote Today

Share

Members of the NHL Players’ Assn. began meeting Wednesday in Toronto and will vote today on the proposed collective bargaining agreement. About 200 of 700 players were expected to attend, with the rest voting by e-mail.

The union invited the league’s top two officials, Commissioner Gary Bettman and Executive Vice President Bill Daly, to appear at a joint news conference after today’s vote. NHL governors will vote Friday in New York.

Agents predicted that players will ratify it. “I think we’re going to be able to maneuver within it,” one prominent agent said. “I’m not going to miss any meals.”
