Pyramid Lake camping returns
Camping is back at Pyramid Lake, thanks to a new concessionaire that has reopened the fire-damaged Los Alamos campgrounds.
The campgrounds’ 93 sites had been closed since a brush fire swept through the wooded recreation area in August 2003. The concessionaire, Recreation Resource Management, was hired by the Forest Service in April to operate the campgrounds, picnic areas and a boat launch. The concessionaire also plans to open a bait shop. The lake reopened earlier this month after cleanup of a 126,000-gallon oil spill following a March 23 pipeline rupture.
