Parks opposes 3-day week for LAPD jailers
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
City Councilman Bernard C. Parks said Monday that the city was making a mistake in expanding the three-day workweek to Police Department jailers. The council voted 9-1 on Friday to approve a test program, with Parks the sole dissenter.
Parks, a former LAPD chief, cited a recent study by the city administrative officer that raised concerns about whether having officers work 12 hours a day, three days a week increases overtime costs and hurts productivity.
