New Jersey’s dominance of Phoenix was so stunning that Net Coach Lawrence Frank had trouble keeping track of it.

Nenad Krstic had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and the Nets won their ninth in a row, holding the Suns to their lowest point total of the season in a 110-72 win Monday night at East Rutherford, N.J.

“Midway through the third quarter, I was working on my math skills,” Frank said. “I said to one of the assistants, ‘We’re up what?’ I couldn’t figure out what it was. No one could have expected this.

“I had to look up at the scoreboard a couple of times to make sure the math was right.”

Vince Carter added 20 points for the Nets, who reduced their magic number to clinch the Atlantic Division to five and the number to clinch an Eastern Conference playoff berth to two.

Failing to score at least 85 points for the first time this season, Phoenix shot a franchise-worst 26.8% (26 of 97) in also falling far short of its league-leading 108.4 scoring average. The Suns’ previous worst shooting effort was March 10, 1971 when they shot 29.7% against Atlanta.

Steve Nash was held scoreless in 26 minutes. Amare Stoudemire, in his third game back after knee surgery, also failed to score and had only two rebounds. Shawn Marion scored 17 for the Suns.

“It was stunning,” Marion said. “I came out in the third quarter and I looked up and saw we were down by that much. Man, the game was over. There was nothing you could do about it.”

Miami 96, Indiana 91 -- Shaquille O’Neal had 23 points and 11 rebounds and combined with Jason Williams to help the Heat overcome a 14-point third-quarter deficit at Miami.

Indiana led, 58-44, in the third quarter before O’Neal and Williams scored 11 points apiece to force a 71-71 tie by the end of the period.

Stephen Jackson scored 22 points for the Pacers.

Miami’s Udonis Haslem was ejected for scuffling with Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal in the second quarter.

Utah 104, New Orleans 80 -- Rookie Deron Williams had 20 points and five assists and the Jazz used a 14-0 third-quarter run to beat the visiting Hornets and move past them into ninth in the Western Conference standings.

Utah trails Sacramento by two games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.

Rasual Butler had 15 points for New Orleans, which lost for the 12th time in 13 games and fell to 0-3 on a trip that ends Wednesday at Golden State.

Washington 116, Golden State 98 -- Gilbert Arenas scored 40 points and Antawn Jamison added 31 for the Wizards at Oakland.

Washington built a 19-point lead in the third quarter and then blew most of it in the fourth, but Arenas scored 28 points in the second half as Washington hung on in the arena where he and Jamison started their NBA careers.
