Yankees continue to hammer Red Sox

BOSTON —
Hideki Matsui homered twice and had a career-high seven runs batted in, Alex Rodriguez had four hits and the New York Yankees picked up where they left off against the Boston Red Sox with a 23-hit attack and a 20-11 win Friday night.
The Yankees had a season high in runs in the opener of a three-game series 12 days after completing a four-game sweep of Boston in New York.
The win increased the Yankees’ lead in the AL East to 7 1/2 games over the Red Sox.
