Matt Moulson’s hat trick helps Islanders beat Thrashers, 4-1

It was one of the best games the New York Islanders have played this season, especially for Matt Moulson.

Moulson scored three goals and the Islanders snapped the Atlanta Thrashers’ four-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory on Thursday night.

Moulson, who has a team-leading 14 goals and is tied with rookie John Tavares with a club-best 22 points, finished his first hat trick at 13:09 of the third period to give New York a 3-1 edge.

Tavares’ 11th goal, scored into an empty net with one second remaining.

The Thrashers scored first when Slava Kozlov beat New York’s Dwayne Roloson from in close for his fifth goal at 9:01 of the opening period.
