‘Lincoln’ dominates BAFTA nominations, earning 10
Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” dominated the nominations for the EE British Academy Film Awards early Wednesday. The historical American epic earned 10 nominations including best film, best actor for Daniel Day-Lewis, best supporting actor for Tommy Lee Jones and best supporting actress for Sally Field.
Tom Hooper’s musical “Les Miserables” and Ang Lee’s adventure “Life of Pi” received nine nominations each from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, while the James Bond thriller “Skyfall” earned eight nominations.
Besides “Lincoln,” best film nominees are “Argo,” “Les Miserables,” “Life of Pi” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”
Joining Day-Lewis in the lead actor category is Ben Affleck for “Argo,” Bradley Cooper for “Silver Linings Playbook,” Hugh Jackman for “Les Miserables” and Joaquin Phoenix for “The Master.”

Lead actress nominees for the BAFTA are Emmanuelle Riva for “Amour,” Helen Mirren for “Hitchcock,” Jennifer Lawrence for “Silver Linings Playbook,” Jessica Chastain for “Zero Dark Thirty” and Marion Cotillard for “Rust and Bone.”
Nominated in the best director category are Michael Haneke for “Amour,” Quentin Tarantino for “Django Unchained,” Kathryn Bigelow for “Zero Dark Thirty,” Lee for “Life of Pi” and Affleck for “Argo.” Despite the 10 nominations for “Lincoln,” Spielberg was shut out of the director category.
Hooper, who on Tuesday received a nomination for a Directors Guild of America award, was also shut out of the directing category.

Joining Jones in the supporting actor category is Alan Arkin for “Argo,” Christoph Waltz for “Django Unchained,” Javier Bardem for “Skyfall” and Philip Seymour Hoffman for “The Master.”
Competing with Field for supporting actress is Amy Adams for “The Master,” Anne Hathaway for “Les Miserables,” Helen Hunt for “The Sessions” and Judi Dench for “Skyfall.”
The EE British Academy Film Awards will be held Feb. 10 at London’s Royal Opera House. Stephen Fry is the host.
