The toast to the late Nigerian music legend Fela Kuti is the closing event of the exhibition “Central Nigeria Unmasked: Arts of the Benue River Valley.” The event features live music, dancing, DJ sets and mask-making. Miranda July The triple-threat artist, filmmaker and author brings her “Eleven Heavy Things” interactive sculpture exhibition to Los Angeles. Presented by MOCA at the Pacific Design Center, the cast fiberglass, steel-lined “Things” are pedestals, slabs and elaborate stone headdresses to either stand on, around or under, and were first installed at the 2009 Venice Biennale and later at Union Square Park in New York City.
