As Times pop music critic Randall Roberts reported in his review, Gwen Stefani and Keith Urban made surprise appearances during the Rolling Stones’ show Friday night at Staples Center, where the legendary English band kicked off a new North American tour scheduled to run through June 21.

On Sunday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, the Stones brought out another famous pal in Tom Waits, who lives in nearby Sonoma County and dueted with Mick Jagger on the blues classic “Little Red Rooster.” Watch fan video of the performance below.

These guest turns are only the latest in a long line on the Stones’ 50 & Counting run, which began late last year with shows in London, New York and New Jersey. At a Dec. 15 concert in Newark that was broadcast on pay-per-view TV, the band hosted Bruce Springsteen, the Black Keys and Lady Gaga.

50 & Counting touches down next on Wednesday night in San Jose before heading to Las Vegas this weekend. It will return to the Southland for shows May 15 and May 18 at Anaheim’s Honda Center and May 20 at Staples Center.

Maybe Jagger will bring out Daft Punk at that last gig?
