Woman hits pedestrian, flees, crashes into cars, LAPD says
A driver was arrested Sunday evening in South Los Angeles after hitting a pedestrian with her car, fleeing the scene and leading authorities on a chase that ended when she crashed into several vehicles, police said.
About 5:20 p.m. the woman struck a man near 43rd Street and Central Avenue and drove away at a high speed, LAPD Officer Mike Lopez said.
The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Officers on patrol spotted the woman driving erratically and pursued her, Lopez said.
The chase came to a halt when the woman crashed into several cars near 51st Street and McKinley Avenue in South Park, about a mile southwest of the intersection where the hit and run occurred, Lopez said.
After the woman was arrested, police linked her to the initial hit-and-run, Lopez said.
