Monday is deadline to register to vote in the June L.A. County election
For Los Angeles County residents who want to cast a ballot for a new sheriff, governor or member of Congress on June 3, the deadline to register to vote is fast approaching.
Monday is the last day to register for the upcoming primary election, which includes an array of races for county, state and national office, as well as two statewide ballot measures.
Primary elections in California used to be party-based. But under the state’s top-two primary system, first used two years ago, all candidates appear on a single ballot regardless of party affiliation. Voters of all parties cast ballots for the candidates and the top two vote-getters, regardless of party, advance to the runoff in November.
Voters can register online on the county registrar-recorder’s website at www.lavote.net; in person at the registrar’s office, at 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk; or in person at public libraries, Department of Motor Vehicles offices, U.S. post offices and most government buildings.
After submitting their applications, voters can check their registration status online.
