Deputies responding to a call of a possible kidnapping in progress discovered the body of woman in a Hacienda Heights garage, authorities said Thursday afternoon.

The garage was at a home in the 15000 block of Las Tunas Drive, where deputies detained a man after arriving Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

He was considered a “person of interest,” Lt. Mike Rosson of the department’s homicide unit told reporters.

Rosson said detectives were in the initial stages of their investigation and had not developed much information.

“The information we have available is very vague at this point in time,” he said.

At least 10 homicides have been reported in Hacienda Heights since January 2007, according to The Times Homicide Report database.
