Homicide detectives probe death of 1-year-old Baldwin Park girl

Homicide detectives Wednesday night were investigating the death of 1-year-old Baldwin Park girl.

The incident was reported shortly before 11 a.m. in the 3700 block of Downing Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The child was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead. Department officials said there was no additional information regarding the circumstances of the child’s death.

“It’s early on in the investigation,” Det. Ed Brown told KCAL-TV Channel 9. “The family is cooperating. They’re distraught.”

Since January 2007, at least 23 homicides have been reported in Baldwin Park, according to The Times Homicide Report.
