Driver dies after car crashes into light pole, splits in two
A man was killed in Santa Fe Springs early Thursday after he crashed his car into a light pole, splitting the vehicle in two, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 1:24 a.m. near the corner of Norwalk Boulevard and Smith Avenue, said Whittier Police Lt. Steve Dean.
The man was driving a 2013 two-door Toyota, which hit the pole “dead center” at an unknown speed, Dean said.
The man, who Dean said had to be extricated from the wreckage, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said the man had not been identified early Thursday.
