Empty vodka bottle in Bree Walker’s car during DUI arrest, cops say
Police said they found an empty vodka bottle in the car of former Los Angeles news anchor Bree Walker when she was arrested this week in Anaheim on suspicion of drunk driving.
Walker, 61, was stopped at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Ball Road, said Anaheim police Lt. Tim Schmidt.
Police told the Orange County Register that Walker could not produce a driver’s license and looked “disheveled” when she was stopped. There was also a pit bull in her car, which was handed over to animal control officers, officials added.
After her arrest, she was booked and released.
Walker addressed the incident Thursday on social media, pledging to take “strong action” in response.
“Thnx 4 all the support from so many of you who’ve written and called. I’m taking strong action and getting help in battling my disease,” Walker wrote on Twitter.
Walker was a respected fixture in L.A. news television and worked at KCBS-TV Channel 2 in the 1980s and ‘90s.
She was once married to co-anchor Jim Lampley.
Walker had disabled hands and became a high-profile advocate for her condition, known as ectrodactyly.
She is scheduled to appear in court in about six weeks, Schmidt said.
