Man shot, killed in Compton
Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man in Compton.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of West School Street about 5:15 p.m. Sunday. They found a man with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.
The unidentified man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Deputy Kim Manatt said.
Investigators have no witnesses or suspects, Manatt said.
Over the last year, there have been 21 homicides within a mile of where Sunday’s shooting occurred, according to the Times’ Homicide Report. All of the deaths were the result of shootings.
