A 68-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of fatally stabbing his daughter-in-law, Arcadia police said.

Li Zhu was booked on suspicion of murder and remains in custody in lieu of $1-million bail, according to the Arcadia Police Department.

About 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, police received a report of a woman not breathing at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue. When they arrived, they found 41-year-old Xiaolin Li inside an apartment, suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.

Xiaolin Li was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses at the apartment directed officers to Li Zhu, who had left the building after the incident. Officers were able to track him down and take him into custody without further incident, police said.

Investigators determined the suspected assailant and victim lived together with other family members at the apartment. Those relatives told investigators Zhu was the father-in-law of Xiaolin Li. Investigators said the motive behind the fatal stabbing appears to be related to an ongoing dispute within the family.

Anyone with information about the incident was encouraged to call Arcadia Police Department at (626) 574-5151. Anonymous tips can be made by dialing (800-222-8477.
