Letters: If she only had a gun

Re “Slain woman spoke of threats,” June 18

The tragic death of Michelle Kane is a graphic example of what happens when an innocent person brings a piece of paper to a knife fight.

Although she was armed with a restraining order, it was apparently no match for the knife allegedly wielded by her husband, who is accused of killing her even though she pleaded for protection from police shortly before her death. This is what can happen to unarmed citizens.

Perhaps if Kane had been armed with a gun, her children would have a mother today. It proves the point that when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
