Softball: Chatsworth upsets No. 1 El Camino Real, 2-1, in 12 innings
Everyone thought the City Section Division I championship game was set. It would be No. 1-seeded El Camino Real playing No. 2 Carson on Saturday at 4 p.m. at UCLA.
Somebody forgot to tell Chatsworth. The Chancellors stunned El Camino Real, 2-1, in 12 innings on Thursday in a semifinal game. Pinch hitter Lindsey Lowe, a freshman, delivered the key hit, a bases-loaded, two-out RBI single in the 12th to break a 1-1 tie.
Sophomore Kyla Gendler threw all 12 innngs for Chatsworth in handing El Camino Real (24-2) its first defeat all season against a City Section opponent.
The Chancellors will play Carson in Saturday’s final. Carson defeated POLA, 2-0.
