Could Vancouver end the Ducks’ home streak this time?

The Vancouver Canucks nearly ended the Ducks’ home points streak -- now at 19-0-2 -- on Jan. 5.

The Canucks jumped to a two-goal first-period lead, slowing the game down and moving to the verge of an upset, falling in overtime only after a tying goal by Ducks center Nick Bonino with 87 seconds left in regulation and Corey Perry’s overtime winner in the final seconds.

“They shut us down in the first period, but I thought we got to our game after that, forechecking hard,” Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano said after Tuesday’s practice for Wednesday’s 7:30 p.m. rematch at Honda Center. “Whenever we’re being physical, creating energy in their zone, it works out for us.”

The Ducks (35-8-5) have won 17 of 18 games while goalie Jonas Hiller has won 14 straight.

Ducks Coach Boudreau asked the Ducks in practice to play Vancouver similar to the way the Kings played in beating the Canucks, 1-0, Monday night at Staples Center.

“To play against Vancouver, you have to do that,” Cogliano said. “If you don’t match their tempo and intensity, you won’t beat them.”

The Ducks got center Ryan Getzlaf back on the ice Tuesday after he blocked a shot with his foot Saturday in the second period at the Phoenix Coyotes and didn’t return, then sat out Sunday’s 1-0 win over visiting Detroit.

Center Saku Koivu skipped practice Tuesday, but Boudreau termed it a “maintenance day,” and said he’ll probably play Wednesday.
