Baseball: Fountain Valley players to coach in Challenger Division
On Saturday, instead of a pool party or taking it easy in preparation for next week’s Southern Section baseball playoffs, Fountain Valley players will be heading to Westminster Park to help coach in the Challenger Division for District 62 Little League baseball.
The Challenger Division was established in 1989 and is for kids, ages 5 to 18, to play baseball despite physical or cognitive disabilities.
Fountain Valley has participated in the event for several years.
“It is a humbling and gratifying time for the baseball players,” pitching Coach Chris Sorce said in an email. “It just goes to show you life is not all about winning, losing, scholarships or rankings. Experiences like this teach us many life lessons.”
