CBS to broadcast Tony Awards from Radio City Music Hall on June 8

As part of an ongoing effort to play a major role in the entertainment industry, the owners and operators of New York’s famed Radio City Music Hall plan to set up an operation in Los Angeles aimed principally at producing television programs.

Tommy Walker Productions, whose credits include Miss Liberty Weekend’s fireworks finale July 4 and the 1984 Summer Olympics ceremonies in Los Angeles, has been purchased by the rejuvenated Radio City Music Hall Productions Inc. for an undisclosed price.

CBS will once again broadcast the annual Tony Awards ceremony, with next year’s show scheduled for June 8 at Radio City Music Hall.
Walt Disney Productions has changed its mind and will allow the high-kicking Rockettes to appear in its summer show at Radio City Music Hall, the hall announced today.

After two consecutive years at the Beacon Theatre on New York’s Upper West Side, the Tony Awards ceremony will return to the more spacious Radio City Music Hall this year.
