Sacramento: Annual Gold Rush Days turn the clock to the mid-1800s

Share

As Sacramento celebrates its 14th annual Gold Rush Days, get ready to party like it’s 1849, especially if you’re the sort who loves to watch old westerns and daydream about riding in a stagecoach across the dusty plains of the Wild West.

From Aug. 30–Sept.2, historic Old Sacramento turns back the clock. You can watch costumed reenactors stage shoot-outs, or take a ride in a stagecoach, horse-drawn carriage or on a steam train (for a fee).

Don’t miss the Embarcadero Tent City, where you’ll learn about blacksmithing and lace-making, and be sure to try your luck at gold panning. Live music and dancing will help conjure up frontier days of old. Except for rides, it’s all free.
