"AFI Awards is a moment for the most accomplished storytellers of 2013 to pause and be appreciated--not as competitors, but as a community," said AFI President and CEO Bob Gazzale in a statement Monday.

The selections were made by film and television juries comprised of AFI members, scholars, film and TV artists, critics and AFI trustees. Among the the jury members this year were director/producer Jon Avnet, film editor Anne V. Coates, film historian Leonard Maltin, and critics from such outlets as Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide and USA Today.

The AFI will honor the creative ensembles at an invitation-only lunch on Jan. 10 in Los Angeles.
