Daft Punk to issue action figures later this year

Most of us will never be cool enough to play alongside Daft Punk (unless, of course, you’re Pharrell), but the mysterious Parisian electronic duo will give fans a chance to literally play with them when they roll out a set of action figures later this year.

The six-inch figurines were crafted by Japan’s S.H. Figuarts and Bandai and designed under the direct supervision of the duo.

Dressed in the band’s current aesthetic for its critically acclaimed forth album, “Random Access Memories,” the likenesses of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo come equipped with their trademarked metallic robotic helmets and sleek black outfits.

The toys will also have “seven sets of left/right interchangeable hand parts for re-creation of dynamic posing.” Don’t worry, we totally won’t judge you for already making plans to use the figures to stage mini concerts in your bedroom to the tune of “Lose Yourself to Dance.”

Daft Punk’s figures won’t be available in North America until Dec. 27, with a projected Japanese release date set for November. And unlike the duo, the miniatures don’t come as a package deal (the figures retail for $44.99 a piece) with preorders currently available.

This isn’t the first time Bangalter and De Homem-Christo have had a plastic likeness. The duo previously had a line of Japanese miniatures inspired by their work on the “Tron: Legacy” score.
