Long known for his distrust of the Internet, Prince on Tuesday made his apparent debut on Twitter, posting a series of messages that suggest he’s a bit more Web savvy than he’s led us to believe.

The tweets began showing up Tuesday evening on the feed associated with his band 3rd Eye Girl, with which he’s been playing shows this year, including a memorable barn-burner in May at the Grove of Anaheim.

First, the Purple One prepared us for his entrance:

And then? Then, like a great many folks on Twitter, he posted a picture of his dinner:

TIMELINE: Summer’s must see concerts

Later in the night, he offered what he described as his “1st selfie” -- in fact, a picture of smoke -- as well as a link to a YouTube clip of what appears to be a sweet new Prince song called “Groovy Potential.”

Listen to it below -- and keep an eye out for further updates from our newly engaged friend from Paisley Park.
