Emmy Rossum engaged to ‘Mr. Robot’ showrunner Sam Esmail

“Shameless” star Emmy Rossum and director Sam Esmail are getting married.

The Golden Globe-nominated actress and the “Mr. Robot” creator got engaged in Los Angeles over the weekend, her rep confirmed to the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday.

Rossum, 28, and Esmail, 37, have been dating for about two years.

The couple first debuted their romance at the June 2014 premiere of his comedy “Comet,” which he wrote and directed and Rossum starred in alongside Justin Long.

“I don’t gravitate to the jock; it’s the nerdy guy in the corner,” she told Cosmopolitan in September of last year. “I’m dating a writer now [Sam Esmail]. Writers are sexy.”

It will be the first marriage for Esmail and the second for Rossum, who was previously wed to Justin Siegel from 2008 to 2010.

She told Cosmo that she hoped to marry again.

“Honestly, I was so young, I don’t think I knew what marriage meant,” she said. “My parents were never married, and I was teased in school and called a bastard. So the idea of marriage as safety forever was idealized in my head, and we rushed into it.”
