Senior Chris Honeycutt gave up two runs in five innings and went two for four with a triple and two RBIs and freshman Andrew Lambo went two for three with a double and one RBI, improving his batting average to .515, for host Cleveland (7-4).

Humberto Bocanegra scored the winning run on a pinch-hit single by Anthony Wesley in the bottom of the fifth inning for Carson (7-4). Bo Napoleon had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run for the Colts, who scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-5 lead.

Garfield 8, L.A. University 6
Senior Ricardo Jimenez hit a grand slam in the fifth inning and then came in later that inning to get the save as the relief pitcher for visiting Garfield (2-9). L.A. University is 2-8.

La Mirada 5, Narbonne 2
Mario Aluizo hit a home run and had two RBIs for Narbonne (4-7). La Mirada improves 8-3.

Peninsula 13, South Gate 7
John Prunckel hit a two-run home run and had a bases-loaded triple and Ryan Hammonds added a two-run home run for Peninsula (5-4). South Gate is 5-5.

San Pedro 14, Westchester 4 (6 innings)
John Mattera went three for three with a solo home run for host San Pedro (8-3).

Junior Ray White (4-0) allowed one unearned run in six innings, struck out eight and hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give L.A. Jordan (5-3, 1-1) the lead for good. White has allowed one earned run in over 20 innings this season. Visiting Huntington Park fell to 1-1 in league.

Sophomore Alfred Rubalcava (2-0) struck out seven to get the win for visiting Roosevelt (6-3, 1-1). Freshman Freddy Castellanos went three for three with four RBIs and Jesus Campos went three for four with two RBIs for the Roughriders. South Gate is 5-5, 1-1.

Esteban Garcia went two for three with an RBI and three runs scored for host Carson (6-4, 2-0). Gardena drops to 0-2 in league.

James Anderson was three for four with a solo home run and pitcher Derek Brewster (2-1) had 13 strikeouts in seven innings to lead Narbonne (4-6, 2-0) past host Washington (0-3, 0-2).

J.C. Barker’s run-scoring single in the sixth inning snapped a 1-1 tie at Chatsworth. Matt Dominguez gave Chatsworth (10-0, 2-0), the No. 4-ranked team in the Southland by The Times, a 1-0 lead. Chad Boyd’s run-scoring double in the sixth pulled No. 18 El Camino Real (6-4, 0-2) even. Senior left-hander Jake Norton (4-0) threw 83 pitches while recording a complete game.

Roberto Parra (3-2) pitched 4 2/3 perfect innings in relief and had a game-tying two-run single in the fourth. Verdugo Hills is 0-1 in league.

WEST VALLEY LEAGUE

Chatsworth 6, El Camino Real 4 (8 innings)
Mike Fernandez and Jake Norton contributed one scoring single each in the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie and lead Chatsworth (9-0. 1-0) to victory in its West Valley League opener at El Camino Real.

Chad Boyd, who had three hits for El Camino Real (6-3, 0-1), tied the game with a home run in the sixth inning.

Bryan Petersen picked up the victory for Chatsworth with three shutout innings in relief, striking out five. J.P. Hollywood had two hits and three RBIs for El Camino Real. Fernandez had three hits for Chatsworth.
