There were some potentially unsettling questions lobbed Jim Mora’s way amid the standard media day queries.

None could faze the UCLA football coach, who acted as if he had just been asked about his favorite color.

Mora calmly and patiently addressed the vetting of defensive coordinator Tom Bradley after recently unsealed testimony alleged that Bradley had known of Jerry Sandusky’s sexual abuse prior to its having been reported to Penn State officials.

“I can’t tell you specifically if it was known at that time,” Mora said of the allegations Friday at Pac-12 Conference media days in Hollywood. “I can tell you that any information that was public that we had access to was known and was reviewed, certainly.”

Mora said the unsealing this week of testimony from former Penn State assistant Mike McQueary did not trigger a new review of Bradley’s history. Bradley released a statement denying McQueary’s allegations that Bradley said he had been told by fellow assistant coach Greg Schiano that Schiano had witnessed Sandusky molesting a child in the 1990s. Schiano also denied those allegations.

“This is a situation that has obviously been delved into at great depth and I think Tom will stand by his statement, I’ll stand by his statement and we’ll all stand by Tom,” Mora said.

Sandusky was convicted in 2012 of assaulting 10 boys over a 15-year period and sentenced to at least 30 years in prison. Mora prefaced his remarks about Bradley by mentioning the victims.

“The first thing you have to think about is the victims and our hearts go out to the victims,” Mora said. “As a father of four young children, I can’t imagine the horror of being in that position. I can’t think of anything that could be more horrifying as a parent or as a victim.”

Mora has said Bradley’s background was thoroughly investigated before UCLA hired him before last season.
