Stanford and Iowa to meet in Rose Bowl
The rest of the major bowl pairings are now set, highlighted by Stanford and Iowa meeting in the Rose Bowl.
“The Tournament of Roses is thrilled to host Iowa and Stanford at this year’s Rose Bowl game,” said Rose Bowl Management Committee chairperson Scott Jenkins. “We expect an exciting matchup between the Hawkeyes and the Cardinal on New Year’s Day here in Pasadena. This year, we return to our traditional Big Ten and Pac-12 matchup and we can’t wait to welcome the teams and the fans from both schools to the Granddaddy of Them All.”
Here are the big six bowl games to watch:
Dec. 31
--Orange Bowl: No. 1 Clemson (13-0) vs. No. 4 Oklahoma (11-1)
--Cotton Bowl: No. 2 Alabama (12-1) vs. No. 3 Michigan State (12-1)
Jan. 1
--Sugar Bowl: No. 12 Mississippi (9-3) vs. No. 16 Oklahoma State (10-2)
--Rose Bowl: No. 5 Iowa (12-10) vs. No. 6 Stanford (11-2)
--Fiesta Bowl: No. 7 Ohio State (11-1) vs. No. 8 Notre Dame (10-2)
--Peach Bowl: No. 9 Florida State (10-2) vs. No. 18 Houston (12-1).
Iowa finished fifth in the final top 25 ranking, followed by Stanford, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida State and North Carolina. USC finished No. 25.
