Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Hamilton City

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Tuesday morning 12 miles from Hamilton City, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:01 a.m. PDT at a depth of 9.9 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 12 miles from Chico and 18 miles from Paradise.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
