Earthquake: 3.7 quake strikes near Twentynine Palms, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported Wednesday afternoon in Joshua Tree National Park, 13 miles from Twentynine Palms, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:18 p.m. PST at a depth of 1.9 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 18 miles from Indio, 19 miles from Coachella, and 24 miles from Palm Desert.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
