A cement truck lost control Friday and overturned on the same downhill road in Beverly Hills where a dump truck in March overturned and killed a Los Angeles police officer, authorities said.

About 11 a.m. the cement truck was southbound on Loma Vista Drive when it veered out of control, hit three parked cars and crashed near Wallace Ridge. The truck driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. No one else was injured, police said.

On March 7, LAPD Officer Nicholas Lee was killed and his rookie partner injured when a southbound dump truck on the same road tipped over and landed on the police squad car headed in the opposite direction.

The two crash sites are only a few hundred feet apart.

The road is lined with signs warning drivers of large trucks to be wary of the steep incline, to obey speed limits and even has a runaway truck ramp at the bottom. But the street is also home to multi-million dollar mansions that are seemingly constantly under construction.

Beverly Hills police Sgt. Max Subin said Friday’s crash, taken together with the deadly incident in March, has forced officials to reevaluate the safety of Loma Vista Drive. The road is one of the city’s roads where heavy-duty vehicles are permitted to travel.

“We are definitely looking at some mitigating factors, we’re working with engineering,” Subin said.

Lee was the LAPD’s first on-duty death since 2008.
