Metro officials are warning Blue and Expo Line riders to expect delays up to 20 minutes after a vehicle clipped the side of a train near the Pico stop in downtown Los Angeles, leaving two people with minor injuries.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on the 1800 block of South Flower Street when the vehicle -- traveling parallel to the train -- scraped up against the Blue Line train, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said.

Fire personnel said they treated a train passenger who suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

A second person was also hospitalized, though Scott said it was not immediately clear whether that person was the driver of the car or a passenger on the train.

The train and the vehicle sustained “minor” damage, Scott said.

A photo tweeted by KTLA-TV show a black SUV with damage to the front of the vehicle stopped alongside the train.

To help shuttle people to their final destinations, Metro said Blue and Expo Line trains are sharing tracks bound for downtown. Metro also tweeted a list of alternate routes.

Officials said the delays are expected to last through rush hour.
