A man who authorities said was armed with a crossbow during a four-hour standoff with deputies at a home in Rowland Heights was taken into custody Sunday, officials said.

Deputies from a special weapons team of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded just before 10 a.m. Sunday to a call reporting a dispute between a father and son in the 18000 block of Mescal Street in the San Gabriel Valley community.

When deputies arrived, the son came out with a crossbow then went back in the house, Deputy Amber Smith said. The standoff spurred the evacuation of nearby homes in the San Gabriel Valley.

After several announcements were made directing the man to leave the house, the man emerged and was arrested without incident just after 2 p.m., Smith said.

Deputy Peter Gomez identified the arrested man as Michael Lin, 35. Information was not immediately available about any charges he might face.

The crossbow was recovered, Gomez said.
