Man is killed in deputy-involved shooting in Norwalk; deputy injured

A man was fatally shot Wednesday by a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy after a deputy was struck by the man's vehicle, authorities said.

The deputy was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez.

The shooting occurred about 5:15 p.m. near Alondra Boulevard and Studebaker Road near the boundary between Norwalk and Cerritos, Navarro-Suarez said.

The suspect was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not released pending notification of his family.

It's unclear whether the deputy who was injured was also involved in the shooting.
