A hiker was killed Friday and another was injured after four people fell from a cliff in Eaton Canyon, fire officials said.

Emergency responders were called to a cliff not far from an entrance to the Altadena park about 11:30 a.m., where four people had fallen to the rocky base below.

One person, reportedly a 17-year-old girl, was dead, said Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian. Another hiker was airlifted to a hospital.

Two others who were on the hike and also fell were uninjured, said Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson.

“When you go up to this Eaton Canyon, be careful,” he said. “We get lots of incidents up there. It’s just a lot of hikers; a lot of them fall.”

It was not immediately clear how the group fell, officials said. Authorities are waiting for the county coroner to respond before they recover the body, Derderian said.
