A father was found guilty Tuesday of the 2001 murder of his 2-month-old daughter in Riverside County. Her remains were later found in a plastic container at an Arkansas storage unit, authorities said.

Vermont resident Jason Michael Hann, 38, was living in Desert Hot Springs when he killed his daughter, the Riverside County district attorney’s office said.

The infant’s remains were found in 2002 after Hann and co-defendant Krissy Lynn Werntz failed to pay the storage bill and the container was cleaned out, according to authorities.

Authorities said Werntz has been charged in the murder of the girl, who was her daughter. She is scheduled for a trial readiness conference in February.

Hann was previously convicted in Vermont of the 1999 murder of his son, who was less than 2 months old, according to authorities. The infant’s remains were found in a storage unit in Arizona. Hann was sentenced to 27 to 30 years in prison in that case.

In Riverside County, prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Hann. The penalty phase of the trial is scheduled to begin Wednesday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
