Two fans arrested near Staples Center during Stanley Cup Game 5
Two men were arrested Friday evening after a scuffle near Staples Center ended with one man allegedly shoving a police officer as Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals entered a second overtime.
In the area of L.A. Live near Wolfgang Puck’s, two fans caused a disturbance outside the restaurant and were asked to leave by the manager, police said. As they were removed, one of the men shoved an officer.
The man was held down, handcuffed and taken into custody by several officers. No one was seriously hurt, police said. It was not immediately clear why the second man was arrested.
Police have cordoned off the portion of L.A. Live that is near Wolfgang Puck’s, and are denying people entry to the area.
The LAPD had asked fans to stay away if they did not have tickets to the game, a decision made after the raucous and violent celebration that followed the Lakers’ 2010 NBA championship.
The Kings defeated the Rangers 3-2, scoring the final goal in the second overtime period.
