A Los Angeles police officer shot and wounded a man who confronted him with a knife at a Winnetka residence Sunday, authorities said.
[Updated, 10 p.m.: The unidentified man was struck in the shoulder, said Los Angeles police Lt. Andrew Neiman. The man was listed in stable condition at a hospital.
"It was a family dispute," Neiman said. "The family called 911 because the suspect armed himself with a knife."]
Police responded to the call about 3:20 p.m. in the 19800 block of Hemmingway Street, Officer Sally Madera said. The shooting occurred after the family told officers the man was in the residence, Madera said.
