Officer loses teeth in fight with domestic violence suspect

A 31-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a Fontana police officer who lost two teeth and received major injuries to his face during the confrontation, law enforcement authorities said Tuesday.

Luis Enrique Flores is accused of attacking the officer after running out of a home Monday during a domestic violence and kidnapping call, according to the Fontana Police Department.

"The suspect slammed the officer face first into a woodshed, causing major injuries to the officer's face," Sgt. Doug ImHof said in a statement.

The suspect was eventually subdued by the injured officer, who was aided by other officers at the scene in the 16400 block of Tullock Street.

The officer was treated for his missing teeth and facial lacerations and released Tuesday from a  hospital.
