Plane, helicopter collide at Van Nuys Airport
A small airplane and a helicopter collided Thursday afternoon at Van Nuys Airport while both aircraft were on the ground, authorities said.
No one was injured in the incident.
The small airplane, an Aero Commander 685, was repositioning at the airport when it struck the front of a Eurocopter AS350, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer.
Aerial footage of the scene from KTLA-TV Channel 5 showed the two aircraft seemingly conjoined near the runway.
According to Stu Mundel on Twitter, the helicopter involved in the incident is the back-up chopper used by KCAL-TV Channel 9 and KCBS-TV Channel 2.
