A woman who was seven months pregnant lost her baby after she and another person were struck by a car in North Hills, authorities said.

The woman and a man were crossing at the intersection of Parthenia Street and Sepulveda Boulevard when they were hit by a car about 11:20 p.m. Thursday, Los Angeles police said.

The driver “obviously” didn’t see them before the crash occurred, police added.

As a result of the woman’s injuries, her unborn child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman -- who was not identified -- and the man with her sustained moderate to serious injuries, but are expected to survive.

Police said it was unclear whether the pedestrians crossed the street without properly following traffic signals, or if the driver, who stopped after the crash, was to blame. The driver was not found to be driving under the influence and was not arrested, the LAPD added.
