Eight hurt when casino bus crashes in north San Diego County

Eight people were hurt Thursday morning when a bus taking patrons to a casino in northern San Diego County crashed, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred in Valley Center at about 9:30 a.m. when the bus carrying 15 passengers was within five miles of Harrah’s Rincon Casino.

Seven of those injured suffered bruises, the CHP said. One of the injured suffered a broken leg. All were taken to local hospitals.

The bus was eastbound on Valley Center Road when it veered off on a curve, smashed through a fence and stopped in the frontyard of a home. The driver said he was going about 30 mph, the CHP said.

The bus was operated by Silver State Coach Inc. and had picked up passengers in Seal Beach.
