Police chase through Highland Park ends in driver's arrest

Police pursue allegedly stolen vehicle through Highland Park area; man arrested

A 30-minute police chase Wednesday through Highland Park, South Pasadena and surrounding areas ended when the driver of a car believed to be stolen was apprehended, police said.

The chase by Los Angeles Police Department patrol cars began shortly after 10:30 a.m. and included the 5 Freeway and continued on the northbound 110 Freeway.

The Lexus then exited the freeway and traveled toward South Pasadena, where it continued on residential streets.

The male driver appeared to be the only person in the car.

Television coverage showed the vehicle navigating through traffic, potentially endangering other motorists and pedestrians.

About 30 minutes into the chase, the vehicle came to a stop near Huntington Drive and West Main Street in El Sereno after losing at least part of a tire. The suspect was arrested soon after.

At least half a dozen patrol cars participated in the pursuit. No injuries were reported.
