Actor Michael Jace, best known for playing a detective on TV’s “The Shield,” was charged Thursday with murder in the shooting death of his wife at the couple’s Hyde Park home.

Jace, 51, was charged with one count of murder with a gun. The body of his wife, April Jace, 40, was found in the hall of their home with multiple gunshot wounds Monday evening.

Los Angeles County prosecutors say they will ask a judge to set Jace’s bail Thursday at $2 million.

Jace was arrested Monday evening after he called 911 to say he shot his wife, police said. If convicted, he faces 50 years to life in state prison.

Two children, both reportedly younger than 10, were inside the pink stucco home at the time of the shooting, but neither child was hurt, authorities said.

“At very least they heard the shots,” LAPD Det. Sal LaBarbera said. “It is a terrible tragedy, made all the more worse by their children being there.”
