A second suspect arrested in connection with the beating of a transgender woman in May on Hollywood Boulevard was identified by police Thursday as 21-year-old Samuel Garunts.

Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison said Garunts, who was arrested Wednesday afternoon, had been a person of interest for some time in the investigation of the early-morning attack on May 31.

Madison said it was unclear whether there would be more arrests in the case.

Detectives earlier said four men were involved in the beating of the woman identified by authorities as Vivian.

In video surveillance footage released by police, a man appears to assault the woman from behind, knocking her to the sidewalk. Three other men can then be seen kicking the victim repeatedly as she lies motionless.

The woman suffered broken bones and internal injuries and spent a week in the hospital, police said.

A 21-year-old man was arrested in June on suspicion of felony battery in connection with the incident.
