The Los Angeles County sheriff’s bomb squad determined that a suspicious package found Saturday inside a Bank of America building at the Lakewood Center Mall was harmless, authorities said.
Customers and employees were evacuated from the bank near Lakewood and Del Amo boulevards after the package was found on the floor by one of the teller’s windows and was reported to police shortly after 12 p.m., according to sheriff’s officials.
A department spokesman said late Saturday that the package turned out not to be dangerous. He had no further details.
Times staff writer Jack Leonard contributed to this report.
