Amber Alert issued for two children believed abducted by their mom

The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert on Thursday for two children allegedly abducted by their mother from their Exposition Park home.

The Amber Alert was activated around 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

The mother, Ameenah Rasheedah Freeman, 37, showed up at the home of the children’s grandmother — their legal caregiver — Wednesday night and asked for the boy and girl, Los Angeles police said.

The grandmother got worried and called 911, but Freeman left before police arrived. Freeman suffers from mental illness and is currently not medicated, according to police.

The children were last seen in Northridge in a maroon 2011 Ford Edge with paper plates that say “Airport Marina,” police said. The grandmother did not see Freeman’s vehicle Wednesday night.

The children were allegedly taken from the home in the 1700 block of West 35th Place around 3 p.m. Monday.

It was originally reported that Freeman may have been taking them to Phoenix, where their father may be living.

Emanuel Freeman, 8, was described as black, with black hair and brown eyes. He is 4 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 94 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a “Mario Brothers” graphic, black shorts with white stripes and sandals.

Adoniah Freeman, 9, is black with brown eyes and black hair. She is 4 feet 10 and weighs 97 pounds, according to police. She was last seen wearing a pink dress with white flowers.

Freeman is described as black, 5 feet 6, 160 pounds, with brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black dress and black sandals.
